IPA's main objective is to support projects that serve the needs and priorities of the candidate country to become a member of the EU.
Funds provided through the projects aim at harmonization with the EU acquis and the establishment of the necessary administrative capacity for this harmonization. However, projects aimed at ensuring economic and social cohesion (regional development, agricultural and rural development, cross-border co-operation and SME projects) are increasing day by day in financial assistance.
IPA, the participating countries as well as Croatia's candidate status in countries (Iceland, Macedonia, Montenegro and Turkey) and potential candidate status in countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Kosovo) are included.
